Fun was had by all at the Longview Yacht Club Ribbon Cutting. An explanation of the last 2 years of hard work from the volunteers at the Club was given by Commodore, Kathleen Raske. The club is very proud of the new pier and is inviting everyone to come and enjoy the scenery and activities. Activities include a balance of racing, cruising and social events. Organized cruising activities include rafting parties, moonlight cruises, and water balloon battles. The Club holds regular races and regattas on the Lake beginning in February with the Frostbite Regatta and ending with an around-the-lake Great Race in November. Club members assist the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in teaching boater safety courses, offer sailing courses to the public, conduct free rigging clinics, and provide racing clinics to its membership. Monthly happy hour, at the lake fish fries and steak grilling, a “U-Make-It/U-Sail-It” race, youth sailing activities, and a host of other activities round out a typical year for the Club.
